Energy Saving Lamps

Compact fluorescent energy saving lamps have come along way since the U shaped ones we are familiar with . The new generation of these energy saving lamps are now smaller and more energy efficient than the previous range . New styles of energy saving compact fluorescents are now available fitted in GU10 cases the protronic compact fluorescent is a 7 watt energy saving lamp that fits straight in to the GU10 fitting and uses a fraction of the power for almost the same light output . Spiral or helix compact fluorescents are very popular and in the range are the Pro-lite S.A.D Daylight Compact Fluorescent energy saving lamps . SAD is a type of winter depression which affects an estimated half a million people in the UK every winter between September and April .

One of the most common problems people with SAD experience is the low light levels found in the home during the darker months of the year , typically household lights are a warm white ( 2700K ) , these simulated Natural Daylight lamps are ( 6400K ) offering a much crisper whiter light and are ideal for reading lamps , garages , workshops , art studios and generally around the house . They are available in Both ES ( Screw fit ) and BC ( Bayonet ). Coloured Spiral energy saving lamps and micro quad compact fluorescent lamps have recently been added to the range .

The U shape compact fluorescent lamps lamps are available in either 2U , 3U or 4U depending on the required wattage . The energy saving lamps use approximately one fifth of the of the equivalent wattage in a standard lamp , in otherwords if you wish to replace a 100 watt lamp with an energy saving lamp you would require a 20 watt version . Apart from the shape there are spiral types , globe types and candle shaped lamps to offer a wide range of styles to replace the more conventional lamp .

There are also soft start energy saving lamps which start slowly and within 2 seconds are upto full brightness . These compact fluorescent lamps or energy saving lamps are not everyone’s taste as the light is of a fluorescent nature rather than the crisp white light offered by halogen lamps , but from an energy saving point if you have an office or workplace they can not only save money but also save on global resources.
